2007 Healthcare Commission acute inpatient mental health service review

The Healthcare Commission has published the report and results of its national review of acute inpatient services which assessed how well mental health provider trusts have performed in responding to the policy agenda to improve the quality of adult acute inpatient care provision.

‘Onwards and Upwards’ handbook

CSIP-NIMHE, in collaboration with the Healthcare Commission, has produced an electronic handbook ‘Onwards and Upwards: Sustaining service improvement in acute care’ to help local services to carry out the review and to build on this to sustain improvements in acute care. It includes information and hyperlinks to the key policies that provided the standards for acute care and suggests action points for improving services. It also provides pointers to good practice and information about different initiatives and approaches to sustaining improvements in acute mental health.
