The National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), at its second annual conference in Birmingham, launched a revision of Preventing Suicide: A toolkit for mental health service. The toolkit, originally published in 2003, has been amended to reflect recent policy changes and has had input from key stakeholders, service users, carers and experts.
Vanessa Gordon, Mental Health Lead at the NPSA said
"The revised toolkit will support mental health organisations in establishing a system audit that fits their local context. We also hope that the toolkit will provide data which will help identify trends for future learning. This revision will also help improve the monitoring and care of people with mental illness who are at risk".
