The National Mental Health Development Unit (NMHDU) and Action 4 Advocacy are holding a conference for Commissioners and others to consider the current provision of Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA) services and explore what is needed to make services effective.

It will explore:

 

• out of area patients
• appropriate staff training
• meeting the demands of the service
• exploring what an effective IMHA service might look like.

The conference aims to bring together key people:

 

• Commissioners from Primary Care Trusts (PCTs)
• Advocacy organisations
• Service users
• Carers
