Part of the Mental Health and Care Pathways 2010 Conference Series
Focusing on Improving Outcomes through Care Pathways in Mental Health, this one day conference opens with a keynote session presented by Jim Symington, Head of External Commissioning and Improved Care Pathways Programmes National Mental Health Development Unit, who will introduce the subject of Integrated Care Pathways for Mental Health and where to start: process mapping and assessing the current service.
Following the release of New Horizons: Towards a shared vision for mental health, which highlights the importance of involving service-users and focusing on outcome measures for improvement and service redesign, delegates will have the opportunity to hear about setting outcome goals within the Care Pathway involving users in pathway development and using the ICP as a tool for effective user involvement and empowerment.
Delegates will also hear about the role of variance and variance analysis, types of variance including individual, aggregate, positive and negative and how the information can enable change in practice and outcomes. The conference also features case study examples of condition specific pathways in practice including within inpatient Mental Health settings and dual diagnosis.
The conference closes with a final session discussing the relationship between process mapping, Care Pathways and clinical outcomes including understanding and evaluating variance through process mapping and monitoring the impact on clinical outcomes and quality indicators.
